Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He fell in love with Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's anthems of fame about Colorado have been a major influence on many to move to the state. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame, stated: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado in the same way as John Denver." Denver is the Hall of Fame's first inductee, was honored with this honor in 2011. He is now the face of Colorado on the world stage. Through my travels, I've met people who are from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell people you're from Colorado The first thing they'll say is"Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief career performing in small folk bands included Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver saw an early rendition it was clear that the track could become a hit single. Danoff recorded the song a couple of days after performing at Washington D.C. before an crowd that was extremely enthusiastic.
